The Child Safety Reform Implementation Monitor Robert Benjamin has appeared before the Parliamentary Joint Sessional Committee – Recommendations of Final Report of the Commission of Inquiry.

Made up of independent, opposition and government Members of Parliament, the Joint Sessional Committee is scrutinising the Government’s response to Recommendations made in the Final Report of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the Tasmanian Government’s Response to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings.
Mr Benjamin served as a Commissioner on the COI. He appeared before the Committee in this current independent role, overseeing progress of the implementation of recommendations.
Mr Benjamin has been appointed as Implementation Monitor for a five-year term.
“My role ensures that Government and Parliament remain aware of their obligation to make Tasmanian institutions safer for children and young people,” said Mr Benjamin.
“I take this responsibility seriously, and as I scrutinise the effectiveness of the rollout of child safety recommendations in Tasmania, it is important I am also scrutinised to make sure I am doing my job effectively, openly and transparently.”
